I read in sci.lang.translation that Michael Zuchowski

Post by Michael ZuchowskiThx for everything :)
Could you write me how you have included Swedish fonts here ? I've tried
but without any result. What type of
encoding should I choose ?
You don't need any encoding. The characters you need are hidden in your
computer. In two places, indeed. Press and hold the ALT key and type 160
on the numerical keypad with NUM LOCK on, and you should get á. In this
store, the characters are not in any logical order. But there is another
store, where you press and hold ALT and type, for example, 0229 and you
should get å. In this store, where most of the numbers from 0128 (€) to
0255 (ÿ) are valid for special characters, the characters are in a sort
of alphabetical order.
I don't use the first store, because I don't have a list of which key
combinations give which character, but there was a list of the second
store combinations in the Word Perfect manual many years ago, and I have
that but only in hard copy. There are probably lists on the net
somewhere.
You can compile your own list, of course. You can't do any damage with
these key combinations, but you may get the unprintable character symbol
? on the screen if the key combination doesn't give a real character.
